my plans for this website

I have been meaning to make an initial post for a while now, but couldn’t settle on what it would be. So why not a meta-post where I discuss what I plan to post in the future? I have many interests—more than I can reasonably pursue in my limited free time. So the following is a list of things that might appear—though I make no promises.

• Math: I love math in various forms. One thing I’ve been thinking about for a while is doing a dive into various integer sequences and see what interesting things I could pull out.
• Puzzles: At a previous job I would post a (usually math related) puzzle almost every Friday. It was a lot of fun and one of the things I missed the most when I left that job.
• Coding Projects: I occassionally start, and even less frequently finish, coding projects. If I get something to a state I’m happy with and document it properly. I’d love to share it here.
• Games: I have always wanted to participate in a game jam, but haven’t taken the time to do so. The confluence of design, coding, music, and art is so incredibly appealing to me. I will do it one day. And when I do, I want to do a proper write up of it and share it here.

In between my posts, if you’re still looking for more cool things online, here is a small selection of creators I admire that have inspired me over the years:

• 2swap - 2swap explores interesting topics in math that haven’t previously garnered attention, insight, and approachable explanation.
• abe’s projects - I love the way Abe combines software and hardware dev in his projects to create neat little objects.
• Bobby Fingers - Certainly the most out-of-place inclusion on this list. But the care put into his craft mixed with his incredible humor makes me jump at every video he releases.
• Incompetech - Kevin is a prolific music producer who releases almost all of his stuff for free. You’ve certainly heard his music before and your life is better for it.
• nonamenosocks - Some of the most nostalgic pixel art I’ve ever seen, paired with emotionally evocative music. Hasn’t released new stuff in years. Please come back.
• Numberphile - I spend a lot of time thinking about math—like a non-trivial amount of time everyday. And this channel has fueled many of those thoughts over the years.
• Sebastian Lague - Sebastian creates lovely little coding demos where he explores a given concept from its simplest inception to all sorts of complicated depths.
• Simone Giertz - Simone, who gained fame for her crappy robots, creates useful objects for everyday life with a personal touch.
• Zachtronics - Zach creates wonderful logic-based puzzle games that sometimes involve coding, but always involve chewing on a problem until you understand it inside and out.
